The novel, written by Randolph Lewis, is an international thriller set in post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan, home to the massive Altyn gold mine. When the Altyn gold mine is seized by armed bandits, ambitious young geologist Jenn Taylor arrives in Kyrgyzstan to restore her employer’s flagship asset to its legal owner – Toronto-based Empire Gold. To do so she must find Bill Fint, the company’s manager who has disappeared, and possibly been kidnapped.
But the fourth revolution in twenty years breaks out, and the government she had hoped would support her efforts ceases to function. When the Chinese trade office gets wind of the presence of ultra-strategic critical minerals near Altyn, the urgency spikes. In a fragile alliance with local villagers and a manipulative Tom Brock of the US embassy, Taylor finds herself in a race against her boss and the threat of Russian military intervention to take Altyn. Only one group can succeed in grabbing power. The losers will be fortunate to escape the country alive.
